one of the great living pillars of West Coast dance music:
San Francisco’s own hero and legend, GALEN.

Over 30 years ago, GALEN co-founded the iconic Sunset Sound System, a project that helped catapult the Bay Area’s localized underground scene onto the global map. From legendary annuals and boat parties to the famed Sunset Campouts, GALEN has magnetically drawn the world’s top DJs and producers westward—setting the gold standard in sound, production, and intention. There’s a palpable pride in these gatherings, and as Sunset’s preeminent organizer, GALEN is the force that transforms vision into crystallized experience.

Cutting his teeth behind the decks at renegade and warehouse parties, GALEN developed a fluid, vinyl-driven signature sound—ranging from deep acid house to rare disco, always guided by the energy of each discerning dancefloor. His assertive mixing techniques and refined taste have earned him a global reputation, not only as a selector but also as a producer. His recent two-tracker with Justin Martin landed at #1 on Beatport’s House chart, while his Culprit Records EP soared into the Top 5 for Deep House.

When not holding court in San Francisco, GALEN can be found across the global circuit—headlining North America’s most pivotal events and gracing Europe’s top festivals. Most recently, he lit up Lightning in a Bottle and Bulgaria’s notorious Meadows in the Mountains.
