Victoria Rawlins | DJ Duckcomb
March 23, 2024
We were thrilled to welcome two distinct forces to The Basement on March 23, 2024: Victoria Rawlins and DJ Duckcomb, each bringing a unique history, style, and energy that lit up the dancefloor.
Victoria Rawlins came up through the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles, cutting her teeth in Hollywood’s punk rock dive bars before finding her groove in the city’s underground dance scene. With a love for fiery disco edits, indie dance, and forward-thinking house, she quickly earned a reputation as a selector who could move any crowd. Her skills caught the attention of Dirtybird boss Claude VonStroke, who tapped her to host the label’s flagship radio show, broadcasting to millions each week on SiriusXM and beyond. When she is not behind the decks or on the mic, Victoria is in the studio producing fresh sounds that continue to gain support from tastemakers around the world.
Joining her was Patrick Billard, better known as DJ Duckcomb, a music storyteller with deep roots in New York’s underground. As one half of the Sharegroove duo, he played venues like Good Room and Black Flamingo before relocating to Los Angeles. There, he became a regular at Heatwave and a key part of the Pleasure of Love crew with Dino Soccio. Duckcomb’s sets blur the lines between disco, Italo, house, reggae, and beyond, always laced with rare edits and reissues from his deep crates. His work has appeared on respected labels like Universal Cave, Emotional Rescue, and his own New Islands imprint, where he continues to bring long-lost gems back into the spotlight.
Together, Victoria and Duckcomb brought the heat. It was a night that merged underground soul with cosmic rhythm, and one we will be buzzing about for a long time.
